Blackpool will be without Bobby Grant for around five weeks.
Scans have revealed the striker has a problem with his knee which will require an operation.
He’s failed to find the net since joining from Rochdale this summer, and now looks to be out of action until February.
Boss Paul Ince explained: “He’s got a cyst on his knee.
“We had a look at it this week and he’ll need an operation.
“We think it will be about five weeks.
“It’s another blow for us.”
With defender Kirk Broadfoot suspended, Pool’s squad will be further stretched for the game against Brighton tomorrow.
And the boss says it’s a case of getting through this busy Christmas period.
“When you look at our bench there are a couple of kids on it,” he said.
“We are down to the bare bones again.
“The likes of Dobbs (Stephen Dobbie) and Davo (Steven Davies) could come back in.
“I’ll look at Brighton and look at home I can get it right tactically.
“It was good to get a point and we’ll come back on Sunday trying to get three points against Brighton.”
