FA Cup finalists heading to Bloomfield Road
LOUIS Saha, Tim Cahill and Phil Neville are expected to be among the stars on show at Bloomfield Road in the Seasiders' glamour pre-season friendly against FA Cup finalists Everton.
Ian Holloway 's men will take on the Toffees on Tuesday August 4 at 7.45pm.
Hailing it "amatch to savour", Holloway said: "It's a big bonus getting Everton lined up and it completeswhat I think is a strong pre-season.
"Games against Premier League teams are always ones to look forward to and I think our fans will enjoy it. It will be the ideal final warm-up before the serious stuff starts at QPR on the Saturday."
Everton, led by former Preston boss David Moyes, were beaten 2-1 by Chelsea at Wembley last month.
They finished fifth in the Premier League and are looking to break into the 'big four' this time around.
The match follows Pool's pre-season games against Oldham, Carlisle, Rochdale, Rushden & Diamonds, Barnstaple and Burscough.
But Holloway says pre-season results don't matter a jot.
He added: "Pre-season isn't about winning or losing – it's about getting the lads in the right mindset for the challenge ahead.
"You can win every pre-season game and then start terribly, or you can lose every one and then start winning.
"It's about how we train and work towards
that first game at QPR."
