NEAL Eardley has signed a new deal at Blackpool – and Ian Holloway hopes Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Keith Southern will follow suit.
The boss intends to make sure he is in the room when the duo – who have already rejected one contract offer – next talk to chairman Karl Oyston about an improved deal.
He believes his presence will help the matter get sorted.
“I’m hoping Fletch, Keith and myself can sit down with the chairman when he gets back and we can get some straight-talking done,” said Holloway.
“He saw the two of them on their own last time and there was a little bit of confusion, because he said to them ‘Okay, I half agree with you so I will go and talk to Ollie’. Then it looked like I’d put something in his head and he changed his mind on it, which I need to talk to him about.
“In fairness to him, I think we should all sit round and see.
“They are good lads, good players, and their contracts are up next summer.
“If it stays like this and they don’t sign a new deal, they let their contracts run out (and leave).
“I think it makes sense to re-sign them now, but he makes those decisions.
“He has made them what he believes is a decent offer and I’m sure when he gets back we will sit down and talk with him.
“I would rather do it face-to-face with him and the two lads in question, because it has been going on too long now.”
Eardley has agreed a one-year deal with a further 12-month option.
