Diouf spit storm
Doncaster Rovers' El Hadji Diouf under pressure from Ludovic Sylvestre last night.
EL Hadji Diouf is at the centre of more controversy after Pool accused him of spitting and being a dab hand at winning free kicks.
The former Blackburn and Bolton striker, who has signed for Doncaster until the end of the season, won a hotly-disputed penalty just before the break.
After scoring with a cheeky chip, he was involved in a shoving match with Seasiders keeper Matt Gilks.
As the teams walked towards the tunnel at half-time, Diouf again became embroiled in a row with Blackpool’s players.
Once inside the tunnel, the striker was accused of doing worse.
Pool’s two-goal Gary Taylor-Fletcher said: “Everyone knows what he was like. He was back to his antics of spitting again. But we got the three points and that is the only thing you can say to him really.”
Pressed on the spitting allegation – a crime Diouf has been suspended for in the past – Taylor-Fletcher added: “It was actually in the tunnel. He was the same when we played against Blackburn. He is a great player and it is just a shame he has that side to him.”

Boss Ian Holloway didn’t comment on that but he did admit he was unhappy with the penalty, awarded after Ian Evatt was adjudged to have fouled Diouf.
Holloway said: “I didn’t think it was a penalty and I was very upset about it at the time.
“There was a foul after that (on Diouf). The fella is very good at that, isn’t he?
“He is probably the best player ever at getting free- kicks and penalties, I have to say that. He goes down so convincingly, he is clever and skilful.
“But is that right? I don’t think so, but never mind.”
Ironically, the Seasiders made several attempts to sign Diouf earlier in the campaign but were put off when the 31-year-old failed to turn up for a face-to-face meeting with Holloway.
He signed for Doncaster a few weeks later, after being released by Blackburn last summer.
As for the rest of the Donny team, Holloway said: “I was very impressed with the way they kept going and I think the scoreline flattered us in the end.”
