Jose Cubero could start his first game in almost six months for Blackpool against Charlton tonight but fellow midfielder Jamie O’Hara is again set to miss out,
Costa Rican Cubero made only his fourth Pool appearance and his first since September as a substitute in Saturday’s defeat at Bournemouth.
Manager Lee Clark said: “Jose did quite well, so he’ll get an opportunity because it’s the first real chance I’ve had to throw him in.”
Captain O’Hara has damaged ligaments in his ankle and has been given time off by Clark to recover.
The 28-year-old missed the Bournemouth game and is again a major doubt.
The Pool boss said: “Jamie is struggling. He played his last three or four games when he was not 100 per cent fit.
“He didn’t train all week and for the first time he didn’t put himself forward (for weekend), so I knew he was really struggling.”
But Pool do welcome back Miles Addison, who is expected to start, having been unavailable to face parent club Bournemouth on Saturday.
Clark also hopes to have loan full-back Niall Maher available after a groin injury.
He explained: “Niall had an injection on Friday. If that’s worked he could come into contention, so fingers crossed.”
