A LATE header from Keith Southern handed Blackpool a point against Coventry at the Ricoh Arena.

The popular midfielder nipped in at near post the nod home a Stephen Crainey corner just as all looked lost for the Seasiders.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher’s superb strike had given Blackpool a half-time lead.

However, two quick-fire goals from the home side looked to have handed them the win.

First Gary Deegan curled home with ten minutes to go, before a decent turn and finish from Lukas Jutkiewicz looked to have won the points for City.

Southern had the final say with his first goal of the season in the dying moments.

FULL TIME: COVENTRY 2 BLACKPOOL 2

Ian Holloway will be happy with a point after it looked as though his side were heading back down the M6 empty handed.

Have to say the home side should never have been ahead, but in the circumstances a point on the road is good enough.

91 mins: GOAL FOR BLACKPOOL!!!

Keith Southern heads home a Stephen Crainey corner from inside the six yard box. Five minutes left, can we nick it?

90 mins: SIX minutes time added on.

88 mins: Kevin Phillips heads over a Neal Eardley cross from 6 yards.

84 mins: You have to say that the substitutions have totally killed Blackpool’s shape. So comfortable in the early part of the game, they are now all over the place. A poor Coventry side have been allowed into this game from nowhere.

83 mins: GOAL FOR COVENTRY

Disaster for Blackpool as Lukas Jutkiewicz twists and turns in the box before firing past Gilks.

79 mins: GOAL TO COVENTRY!

Gary Deegan scores from the edge of the box totally unmarked. Ian Holloway is going mental on the sideline as he feels he wasn’t allowed to bring Matt Phillips on for Ian Evatt who had already gone off injured.

77 mins: Worrying for Ian Evatt. He’s gone down injured twice in the last two minutes with what looks like an ankle injury.

73 mins: Craig Cathcart hits the outside of the post with a sliding effort, never looked like going in.

71 mins: Daniel Bogdanovic comes on to replace Gary Taylor-Fletcher.

69 mins: Far too open this game, Blackpool need to calm everything down....and ideally get another goal!

67 mins: Sammy Clingan fires a 35 yard free-kick wide of Matt Gilks’ post.

65 mins: Good defending from Ian Evatt as he flicks a dangerous cross just out of the path of the striker.

64 mins: Half chance for Blackpool as Keith Southern loops a Taylor-Fletcher cross towards goal. Easy save for the keeper.

63 mins: Game really opening up now, which Ian Holloway won’t like.

59 mins: First change of the evening for Blackpool. Neal Eardley comes on to replace Angel Martinez. A decent debut for Martinez, lacking a little match fitness in the end.

58 mins: Not much goal mouth action here, you have to worry that as long as it’s 1-0 anything could happen. Pool need a second goal here.

51 mins: 12,822 is the crowd tonight.

50 mins: Decent chance for Blackpool as the ball broke to Gary Taylor-Fletcher on the half-volley 12 yards from goal, he forced a decent save from Murphy.

46 mins: No changes at the break. Glad for the game to be back on after 15 minutes listening to what has to be the loudest PA system in the football league.

HALF TIME: COVENTRY 0 BLACKPOOL 1

Decent half for Blackpool, although they faded at the half went on.

Fantastic goal from Taylor-Fletcher.

45 mins: One minute time added on.

45 mins: Strong end to the half for Coventry. Blackpool will be pleased to get in 1-0 up at the break.

38 mins: Good chance for former Blackpool loan man Roy O’Donovan who headed a Hussey cross just wide from ten yards.

37 mins: Chris Hussey fires a long-range effort high and wide for Coventry.

36 mins: Game has died down a bit here, Blackpool won’t mind too much though.

24 mins: Blackpool loving very comfortable here. Playing with a real swagger at the moment. The home side look low on confidence to me.

18 mins: GOAL TO BLACKPOOL!!!

Gary Taylor-Fletcher scores another sensational strike. The striker controlled an Ian Evatt diagonal before placing the ball into the far top corner in style.

13 mins: Another good chance for Blackpool. This time a superb pass from Angel Martinez once again sent Sutherland in on the keeper, this time he tried to lift it over the keeper only for Joe Murphy to be a match to it. Good chance.

8 mins: Blackpool have the ball in the net as Craig Sutherland race onto a through ball and slotted home, only for the linesman’s flag to be raised. No video replays in the Championship, so not sure how close it was.

5 mins: Pool not really getting much time on the ball here so far. Coventry have started the stroner of the two sides.

1 min: An early chance for the home side as David Bell heads a corner straight at Matt Gilks. Easy save.

7:45pm: Here we go, Coventry kick-off, Pool wearing their regular home kit of tangerine shirts and white shorts. COME ON YOU POOL!

Pre-match: Strange atmosphere in here tonight, huge stadium which is half empty. Very loud PA system though.

Team news: Ian Holloway made two changes to the side that lost 1-0 at Portsmouth at the weekend.

The Seasiders hand first league starts to Angel Martinez and Craig Sutherland who replace Thomas Ince and Matty Phillips.

Neal Eardley returns to the bench after a hand injury and new signing Mark Howard is the back-up keeper on the bench.

Pool: Gilks, Crainey, Southern, Evatt, Phillips, Taylor-Fletcher, Baptiste, Ferguson, Cathcart, Sutherland and Martinez.

Subs: Eardley, Bogdanovic, Phillips, Howard and Ince.
