Coleman thanks Blackpool fans
Seamus Coleman at Wembley for Blackpool
SEAMUS Coleman has thanked the Blackpool fans for the ovation he got before Saturday’s FA Cup tie.
The defender was given a rousing reception by the 5,400 visiting supporters, who haven’t forgotten the part the on-loan Coleman played in Pool’s promotion campaign two seasons ago.
Coleman played the final 12 games of that campaign, including the play-off victories over Nottingham Forest and the historic Wembley win over Cardiff.
“I was so glad to get 30 minutes on the pitch and it was a great win against a good Blackpool team,” said the 23-year-old, who was returning to the Everton team after a month out with injury.
“I’d like to thank the Blackpool fans for the reception they gave me and hopefully they can get promoted again this year.”
Manager David Moyes was a relieved man after watching his side’s 2-0 victory. He had been wary of a dangerous Blackpool team and fretting about the number of players that couldn’t play.

The Toffees had an influential trio drop out of the team.
Landon Donovan was denied the chance to make a final appearance before returning to Los Angeles Galaxy by illness, while fellow loanee Steven Pienaar was cu-tied and Tim Cahill was injured.
The manager, who has Shane Duffy, Nikica Jelavic, Phil Jagielka, Leon Osman, Jack Rodwell and Victor Anichebe in the treatment room as well, said: “The amount of players we had out ... I don’t know if I’ve had it as bad really.
“And Leighton Baines was sick on the pitch in the warm-up.
“I wasn’t going to play him, but I told him to give it a go and we would see how he was, so for him to play the full 90 minutes says a lot about him.
“Tim Cahill is carrying two or three injuries. We were really short.
“It was a big job today. Blackpool are a decent side and you saw the way they played in the Premier League last year. It was a tricky tie for us.
“When you play them you are never in control. They score lots of goals in the last five minutes of games. Our goalkeeper Tim Howard made a brilliant save and they missed a penalty kick, so they had opportunities.
“We had six or seven great chances to put the game to bed and we didn’t get the third goal. While it was still 2-0, Blackpool kept going.”
