MATTY Phillips is in the middle of a row after being allegedly spat at by a fan.
The Seasiders winger, on loan at Sheffield United, was standing in the dugout area after being substituted in the Blades’ draw at Leyton Orient on Saturday.
United boss Danny Wilson said: “I’m sure we’ll find out who it was who spat in Matty Phillips’ face. It’s absolutely disgusting. We’ll look at all the evidence and lodge a complaint.”
United claim a home fan entered their technical area and spat at the player.
The incident happened after Kevin Lisbie snatched an equaliser for Orient in the sixth minute of stoppage time, provoking angry scenes between the visitors’ bench and the home crowd.
20-year-old Phillips and Pool clubmate Billy Clarke are both on loan at Bramall Lane for a month.
