Bowyer: We didn't make the County keeper work enough

Gary Bowyer admitted his Blackpool side didn't make the Notts County goalkeeper work enough during their 1-0 defeat at Meadow Lane.

The Seasiders could only muster two shots on target in their disappointing defeat, with Richard Duffy's first half header proving to be the difference.

But results went their way meaning Pool remain in the top seven ahead of their last game of the season against Leyton Orient next week.

“At half time we just said to the players to keep trying and we only needed one goal," Bowyer said.

“If we had come away with a point we would have taken that at half time.

“But apart from Pottsy’s (Brad Potts) header in the second half we’ve not really worked the goalkeeper hard enough.”

Bowyer may have a few injury concerns to deal with ahead of next week’s crucial decider after Andy Taylor and Jack Payne were forced to hobble off.

Kyle Vassell, who came off the bench to replace Mark Cullen, also appeared to pick up a knock in the final stages.

“We wanted to make changes and we needed to make changes and we just felt that rather than keeping Andy Taylor on and regret taking Colin Daniel off, we’d make that change.

"At the end we picked up some knocks and bumps and Kyle Vassell has gone on and looked like he had hurt his ankle.

“But to be fair to him he came on and injected that bit of pace we needed."
