IAN Evatt will miss the next two games after picking up a tenth booking of the season.

The centre back is suspended for Saturday’s league clash at Cardiff and also misses the FA Cup fourth round replay at Sheffield Wednesday.

Holloway said: “It is a blow but we have a good squad and it gives someone else an opportunity to step in and stake a claim.”

On-loan Liverpool defender Danny Wilson, who didn’t make the 16 last night, seems the most likely stand-in, though the manager could switch Alex Baptiste to centre-half and bring in Neal Eardley at right-back.

Andy Thorn could barely believe his Coventry team left Bloomfield Road empty-handed. The Sky Blues manager blamed poor defending at a vital stage for the defeat.

Thorn said: “We worked off our shape well. We got our heads in front and to lose in that manner is disappointing when we’ve come so far.

“We were professional with the way we were finishing the game but you can’t defend like that. It’s a knock because we’ve been doing so well. The manner in which we lost the game is very disappointing

“They all did well, all of them. I can’t fault them – I’m just disappointed.”
