Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has admitted he had mixed emotions after making his Blackpool debut in midweek.

The midfielder came off the bench to score his first goal in tangerine in the game against Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

But the 86th-minute strike proved to be nothing more than a consolation, the Seasiders slumping to a 2-1 defeat.

The Leicester City loanee was naturally delighted to find the back of the net but was disappointed his goal didn’t help in contributing to a positive result.

“It was a good start, I was happy with the debut,” he said.

“Obviously the result wasn’t what we wanted but it was a good response from us in the second half and I think we can take that into the game against Oxford on Saturday.

“Getting the debut goal was good, even if the goalkeeping was a little questionable – but I’ll let him off because the ball swerved a lot.

“It was more about my technique and getting a bit of knuckle on the ball.”

The 21-year-old became Blackpool’s ninth signing of the January transfer window when he made the move on Monday.

That came just 48 hours after the highly-rated midfielder had made his Leicester debut in their FA Cup win at Brentford on Saturday.

“The first I heard about the move was on Friday night when I was at the hotel in Brentford before the FA Cup game with Leicester,” Dewsbury-Hall added.

“I was told Blackpool were really interested and then, as soon as the Sunday morning, I got pulled in and taken up to the ground to get it all sorted.

“The interest from Blackpool was totally out of the blue but I knew I had a lot of other clubs that were interested in me.

“But as soon as I heard about Blackpool I was excited because I knew how ambitious they were with their new owners.

“I felt ready for a move like this so I couldn’t wait to get up here and get it done as soon as possible.

“I knew about their ambition and I knew they had made a lot of signings in January to try and give it a good push for the second half of the season.

“They’ve got great history and it was a club that I knew were really interested in me as well, so it’s more of an incentive when you feel really wanted.

“I know a couple of the lads as I’ve played against them but I’ve never met most of them, so it was only the other day that I first met them.

“I think I’ve settled in well though, so I’m happy.”
