Blackpool reject Cardiff’s Phillips bid
Blackpool's Matt Phillips
BLACKPOOL have rejected a bid from Cardiff City for Matt Phillips.
Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay is believed to have bid around half a million pounds for the 20-year-old on Monday.
However, the offer was instantly rejected by Karl Oyston and The Gazette understands that Cardiff’s bid was way short of Blackpool’s valuation of their star man.
The winger has caught the eye firing seven goals since returning from his loan spell at Sheffield United in November.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 10:38 AMWhat a joke.. looks like we arent the only club who have a chairman who wont put in serious offers.. Gazette, do us all a favor and interview KO and see where the money is and what his plans are, cause there are only 7 days of the transfer market, and once again it looks like we will miss out on people and only look in the loan market, no one wants to see millions wasted, but the offers he put in are embarrassing and then he is insulted when people offer us low sums of money for our best players.. and not paying agent fees is pathetic, welcome to 2012 KO.. we are a championship side, that fills its stadium (not many teams do that).. so repay the fans that have stuck with the team, and invest in our team.. please !! Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 04:33 AMAt just 20 years of age and touted as one of the hottest strikers outside The Premier League even £3m or £4m is way off his true value. If he continues to develop at his current rate he could be our first £10m player in no time. So Cardiff (and especially Oyston) don't even embarrass us again with such pitiful, derisory offers. This strikes me as a blatant attempt by a rival club trying to unsettle a young man in the form of his life.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 12:38 AMI've also just seen that Wigan have signed a winger. Could this maybe pave the way for mcmanaman to return? I'm unsure whether we need him but I always thought he did well.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 12:26 AMActually our deal for him could rise to 700k, so if Cardiff have offered half a million, they think that his value has gone down? Laughable offer, why would we sell him so cheaply to our promotion rivals? And I repeat what I said earlier, Holloway said that he would go to a big club if any. Oyston said that we are in a good financial position so won't be selling him (at least in January). No need to panic.

Monday, January 23, 2012 at 09:24 PMWhy the heck would we sell MP to a Championshipcompeting team trying to win promotion like we are?

Monday, January 23, 2012 at 08:28 PMYeah. Because Matty Phillips is going to leave Pool to join a third world club!! He has just cemented his place in the side and I'm sure if very tempted to join a club just poking it's head out of the Eighties and highly likely to go under again in the very near future! Matty is a very intelligent footballer and I sleep easy with the knowledge that he has a brain! UP THE POOL!
