IAN Holloway has revealed he wants “a couple” more signings ahead of the new season.
The Seasiders boss has made three signings so far this summer and says a striker is his top priority.
Pool were hoping to conclude a deal for Dundee United midfielder Scott Robertson today and Holloway told The Gazette he expects more to follow.
He said: “I’m not happy with who I’ve got up front at the moment as I don’t have enough choices.
“Roman Bednar has gone to Turkey and I wanted Stephen Dobbie but it looks like he’s going to stay at Swansea.
“I’ve also lost Brett Ormerod, so hopefully there will be opportunities for me to bring new faces in but it’s about getting the right ones. I’m still in the market for a couple more.”
Holloway has done a lot less business than in past summers. The only arrivals so far are Jake Caprice, who caught the eye in last night’s anniversary match against Chorley at Bloomfield Road, Isaiah Osbourne and Tiago Gomes.
But the boss is in no rush. He added: “It’s about finding correct ones this summer, so I’m being very selective. We need more goals throughout the coming season, as well as a couple less going in at the other end.
“The great thing is that I have Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Tom Ince and Matty Phillips.
“They all know our system and exactly how I want them to play.
“We aren’t bad up front. You can add to the striker list Elliot Grandin, who is now back and happy to stay. Tiago Gomes will also give us options in the hole behind the strikers. “We aren’t bad up front. You can add to the striker list Elliot Grandin, who is now back and happy to stay.
