Blackpool hero Potts '˜over the moon' after Wembley win seals promotion

Blackpool's man of the match Brad Potts was pleased to cap a rollercoaster season with an '˜unbelievable' win at Wembley that catapulted the Seasiders back in to League One.

Potts sent Blackpool on their way to a 2-1 win as his third minute strike opened the scoring in Blackpool’s League Two play-off final clash with Exeter.

Exeter levelled four minutes before the break as David Wheeler’s delightful chip sailed over a helpless Sam Slocombe.

But man of the match Potts was on hand to square the ball to Mark Cullen in the 65th minute and the striker made no mistake from close range to seal victory for Gary Bowyer’s men.

And Potts, who was part of the ‘Pool side that were relegated from League One last term was pleased they achieved their objective of getting back into the third tier.

He said: “It is unbelievable, after getting relegated last season we set out this season to get promoted and go straight back up.

“It has been a long old season, it has been tough at times we have had ups and downs but it is an absolutely amazing feeling getting promoted.”

And Potts said the third minute strike feels like yesterday as he praised Cullen for his role in teeing him up.

He said: “Feels like yesterday! Cullen did well, he’s made it and I knew if I hit the target I had a chance of scoring, it has gone in and I’m over the moon.”
