Blackpool Football Club have confirmed the appointment of Belgian Jose Riga as their new manager.
The former Standard Liege and Charlton Athletic boss takes over at the Bloomfield Road club who last year narrowly avoided relegation from The Championship.
56-year-old Riga has agreed a one-year rolling contract.
The new manager has a significant job on his hands to rebuild the Seasiders squad.
There are currently only six contracted first team players at the club.
But it’s a challenge Riga is ready to accept, the new boss calling on Pool’s fans to play their part in the future of the club.
He said: “I had a good discussion with the chairman and we found an agreement. I’m ready for the big challenge.
“With the support of the chairman and certainly the support of the fans - who really must be our 12th man - I’m sure we can succeed.”
Riga’s first task will be to rebuild the Blackpool squad.
And he promised to do everything in his power to bring back the good times at Bloomfield Road.
He said: “First of all, I will work hard to build a consistent team,
“They know the way I like to play but first of all we have to look for efficiency.
“The only promise I can make - which I’ve done everywhere - is to give all I can give to the club.
“I hope for the same from everybody involved in the club.”
