BLACKPOOL are on the verge of agreeing a deal with former Preston left-back Matt Hill.
The 30-year-old is understood to have held talks at Bloomfield Road and is set to head to Portugal for a seven-day training camp with his new team-mates today.
Hill started his career at Bristol City before making his name at Preston, where he made more than 100 appearances in three seasons, winning the club’s player of the year award for 2006-07.
Hill then moved to Wolves, helping the club win promotion to the Premier League, and made a couple of appearances in the top flight before a loan spell at QPR and then a permanent move to Barnsley.
His contract at Oakwell ran out at the end of the season and Pool are understood to have beaten a number of other clubs to Hill’s signature. He’ll arrive on a free transfer and will sign a two-year deal.
