Jack Redshaw came off the bench to earn Blackpool a point in a game of two halves at Bloomfield Road.
After Connor Hourihane fired Barnsley into an early lead it looked like being another long afternoon for the Seasiders who started the game with just one up front.
But a change of plan and personnel after the break by boss Neil McDonald saw a much improved second half performance, and a deserved point too.
Subsitute Redshaw totally transformed Pool’s attacking play and got his reward on 55 minutes when he combined with Brad Potts to fire home.
And Pool could have won it in the dying moments when Barnsley keeper Nick Townsend made a superb stop Redshaw in stoppage time.
