Neal Bishop will tie the knot this afternoon, but he still doesn’t know where his footballing future lies.
The versatile midfielder will marry his fiance Fran in Wrea Green this afternoon before jetting off on his honeymoon.
He’s one of six players Blackpool are currently in talks with over new contracts, despite there not yet being a manager in place.
Bishop joined the club last summer and impressed playing in a number of different positions, and while the option in his contract wasn’t taken, he was assured he would be offered a fresh deal at the club.
And if something can be sorted, he’d be more than happy to stay.
“I know it’s odd to say it, but I really enjoyed last season,” he said.
“I love the place, I love the people and everyone has been fantastic since I joined.
“There were a few people who questioned me when I signed, but everyone has been first class.
“I’d love to be here next season. I know there’s a lot of negativity around, but I love everything about the place.”
Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston is believed to be in advanced talks with a couple of potential new bosses and is determined to get a boss in place early next week.
Whoever does arrive will be met with a tough task with only six players currently in the squad.
Bishop added: “Everyone knows there was going to be big changes in the squad this summer.
“There were blatant gaps in the squad last season and I’m sure whoever comes in will be looking to address that quickly.
“There’s going to be a huge turnaround of players, I think last season was a wake up call for everyone at the club.”
Pool have already confirmed their first friendly of the summer with newly promoted Burnley coming to Bloomfield Road.
The Clarets, who are preparing for their return to the Premier League, will face the Seasiders on Saturday August2 at 3pm.
