ALEX Baptiste believes Blackpool have a vital advantage over their Championship rivals.
The defender points out that Pool have already proved they can go up from this division and that most of the players who won a famous promotion to the Premier League are still at the club.
And he claims that know-how and experience could be crucial this season – no matter how strong their big-spending rivals are.
“We know how hard it is to get out of this league,” said Baptiste, breaking off from preparations for Thursday’s Carling Cup tie at Sheffield Wednesday .
“It is going to be one hell of a fight for us this year. You look at the people that have spent money – Leicester, West Ham, Nottingham Forest.
“Wherever you go it is going to be tough but I think we are right up there amongst it.
If we get a few more players in, I think we’ll be challenging as much as anyone else.
“We don’t fear anyone in this league, and on our day we can outplay and outpass everyone in the Championship.
“I think our experience of knowing what it takes to get out of this league will help – it already has at Hull.
“We had a very experienced team out there, and if you want to go up they are the games you have to win.
“I didn’t think we were at our best, but the sign of a good team is to grind out a victory when you don’t play great. That is what champions do.”
Not 26 until January, Baptiste is approaching his peak years as a player and says he is keen to get back to the Premier League, like everyone else in the Pool dressing room.
“I don’t think anyone wants to sit on their laurels,” he added. “All the lads want to play Premier League football and that’s our aim.
