Ian Holloway is closing-in on his fifth summer signing, with a sixth not far behind.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Alberto Ripoll was on the Fylde coast yesterday for a medical, while former Bolton winger James Caton has also been offered a deal.
Ripoll, 22, linked up with Pool during their training camp in Portugal and is believed to have impressed boss Ian Holloway.
He progressed through the ranks at the La Liga club and broke into the first team last season, before the dismissal of manager Quique Flores left him in the cold.
Caton made substitute appearances in both of Pool’s games at the weekend and scored during Sunday’s 2-0 win over Everton.
A number of Championship clubs are reported to be interested in the 18-year-old who is available on a free transfer.
But The Gazette understands he would prefer a move to the Seasiders and has been offered a contract at Bloomfield Road.
