MICHAEL Appleton has promised to make changes for today’s home clash with Hull (3pm kick-off) as Blackpool look to bounce back from Saturday’s shocker at Middlesbrough.
The Seasiders start 2013 seven points off the Championship play-off zone after taking just one point from three games over Christmas.
The Pool boss has made his feelings known to his stars since the poor 4-2 loss at the Riverside. and feels today’s match is the perfect opportunity to bounce back.
Appleton said: “This game is the best one we could have. We face a good side in front of our own supporters.
“Hull are flying. They can’t stop winning games at the moment and I’m sure we’ll react well to our recent disappointments.
“After what happened on Saturday, the players will be chomping at the bit to play.
“Looking at the team on Saturday, there may be a few positions which need freshening up.
“I’m not sure if some of players will be ready for another 90 minutes, and after a performance like Saturday’s you pretty much have to expect changes.”
Hull arrive at Bloomfield Road second in the table and full of confidence. They are unbeaten in seven, have won five of their last six and have conceded only one goal in four games.
And Appleton knows they will provide a tough test. He added: “Hull are a good side. They aren’t where they are by a fluke.
“They play very similarly to Watford. They play three at the back and work the wide areas very well.”
