American star Freddy Adu is training with Blackpool.
The 24-year-old arrived on the Fylde coast yesterday and will take part in training this morning in an attempt to impress boss Barry Ferguson.
Adu is out of contract at the moment after leaving Brazilian side Bahia in November. It’s understood he was invited to keep fit with the Seasiders while he visits the UK.
If Pool were to offer him a deal they would have to apply for an exceptional talent work permit.
At the age of 14, the midfielder became the youngest athlete ever to sign a professional contract in the United States, after he was selected by D.C. United in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft.
He was hailed by football legend Pele and hit the headlines after signings a mega-deal with kit manufacturer Nike.
The Ghana born star has played for a host of top clubs including Benfica and AS Monaco, he’s made 17 appearances for the USA national team.
