THERE is delight at Bloomfield Road – and relief too – that Seasiders fans have stuck by the club, despite relegation from the Premier League.
More than 9,200 season tickets have been sold so far – that’s compared to the 4,900 sold the last time Pool were in the Championship.
It is great news for chairman Karl Oyston, who feared many supporters might stop coming to games now the club has dropped out of the top flight.
Pool sold 11,000 season tickets for their Premier League campaign – so to have sold almost as many again with the start of the new season still two months away is a major boost.
“Did I expect that? Yes. I think what has gone on these last two seasons has given the supporters and the local people a real boost and a real feel-good factor. I think we all want that to carry on and now we’ve sampled the Premier League we all want to go back,” said Oyston.
