Jamie Proctor’s first half strike was enough to earn Fleetwood three vital points against struggling Barnsley.
It was an attritional affair - both sides playing a pressing game, looking to stifle their opponent at every turn.
It didn’t make for a stunning spectacle, Barnsley bossing large portions of the first half but unable to make their time around the Fleetwood box count.
The visitors were a little more clinical, but only a little, Proctor pouncing in a moment of indecision, driving between the Tykes centre back pair and slotting low under Nick Townsend.
It was the standout moment of the first half, the game continuing in a similarly functional fashion after the break.
Eggert Jonsson did nearly grab a second for Town, getting a head on Bobby Grant’s driven corner, Townsend scooping the ball off the line.
A neat one-two with Antoni Sarcevic nearly helped Ash Hunter put the game to bed, the sub firing into the side netting.
But regardless, Town held out to make it two wins from three.
