Fleetwood boss Graham Alexander believes Fleetwood’s Town’s season might still be alive if they’d pulled off more bore draws on the road.

But for a brief late rally from Doncaster Rovers, neither side looked like finding the net in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at the Keepmoat Stadium.

“We’re pleased to take something from the game, take a clean sheet as well,” said the Fleetwood boss.

“We would have liked to have created a bit more attacking wise.

“We did pretty well with that first half but after the break, not as much.

“There was a lot of midfield play from both teams and I thought it was a fair result in a draw.

“I’d just have liked to have had more of a threat.”

Josh Morris came closest to scoring for Fleetwood, sending a long range effort flying over the bar just before the break.

Alexander believes the ability to grind out results, as they did at Doncaster, is something Town at times have been missing.

He said: “We spoke to the lads after and said if we’d have had a few more of this sort of result, seen games out for a point, we’d have been in a stronger position.

“There have been enough games where we’ve been in a position to do that away from home.

“We’ve had eight wins so far, a few more draws would have helped us out.”

After conceding four goals in a week Alexander feels he was rewarded for keeing the faith in his side, including young defender Tyler Forbes, who continues a solid run at right-back.

“We kept the same team as the other night because I thought they played well against MK Dons despite the result,” said Alexander.

“I thought we started in a positive fashion. But the clean sheet is positive.

“They have a lot of firepower if you look at their squad. We handled them quite well. The defensive players, I’m proud of them and their record.”
