After making his debut in March 2014, he went on to make almost 40 appearances in two years for the League Two side, before joining Grimsby in June 2016.

Jones, who goes straight into the squad for this afternoon’s game against AFC Telford United, spent time on loan at Gateshead earlier this season.

Manager Dave Challinor said: “Dan comes to us highly recommended having spoken to several other managers.

“He has experienced playing League Two football with Hartlepool and Conference football earlier this campaign with Gateshead and hopefully that will stand him in good stead and help him settle quickly.

“Dan can play in a number of different positions, which gives us options that we really need at this time.”
