Hitman Muldoon backs Rowe to return to goal trail for Fylde

Muldoon joined the Coasters from Lincoln City after helping the Imps to the National League crown.

The frontman opened his goal account with a neat finish at the Swansway Chester Stadium as Fylde made it two points from to games.

Muldoon says there is still room for improvement. He said: “I’m pleased with how the game went. I thought we did well and it was good to get my name on the scoresheet so early in the season.

“It’s a long season, so we will have to work very hard in training in terms of our shape.

“I’m fairly happy with how the two games have gone – it’s just been frustrating conceding straight after we have scored. We will need to address that quickly as a group. The top flight of non-league is very tough.

“Personally, I have a minimum target of the play-offs. We have to set our ambitions high and we won’t settle for an average season.”

Rowe is yet to score in the National League after his 50 last season, but Muldoon believes it’s “a matter of time” before the prolific striker is back among the goals.

Muldoon added: “Rowey has been quite isolated up top, so we need to get around him better and give him the service he needs.

“He is more than capable of scoring this season and I’m sure it’s a matter of time before he’s banging them in”

Manager Dave Challinor said: “It was a good finish from Jack. I’m very confident he will score goals for us and will work his socks off.

“He is playing a slightly different role to what he is used to and we have worked on that to get the best out of him.”

Challinor has an array of attacking talent despite Dan Bradley’s departure to Kidderminster .

Chairman David Haythornthwaite said that deal was worth £75,000 and vowed: ““Every penny from the transfer has been made immediately available to the manager to further strengthen the side.

“It has been a turbulent ew weeks against the background of the unfortunate betting saga ... Hopefully that’s all behind us and we can concentrate on footballing matters once again.”
