Champion Coasters ramp up player search

AFC Fylde are set to step up their search for players to prepare for life in the National League after it was revealed that only eight players were currently tied down to the club.

Four players are leaving in the wake of the Coasters’ title-winning season, which saw them promoted to the top tier of English non-league football.

On their way are Steve Williams, Tom Kennedy, Dom Collins and Richie Baker, the latter, an attacking midfielder. having announced his departure earlier in the week via social media.

Defender Williams joined the Coasters from Barrow, while Kennedy had previous Football League experience with Bury and Rochdale.

Collins previously had a spell at Southport.

The players under contract for the 2017-18 campaign are Andy Bond, Dan Bradley, Brendon Daniels, Sam Finley, Josh Langley, David Morgan, Rhys Taylor and 50-goal striker Rowe, the Vanarama North overall player of the season.

Fylde have exercised an option of a contract extension for James Hardy.

A statement from Fylde said: “The club would like to thank all departing players for their services and we wish them all the very best in their future careers.”

Fylde added that negotiations were continuing with out-of-contract players.
