The Coasters moved ahead of today’s National League transfer deadline to snap up Cowgill on loan from Championship club Barnsley and Kennedy, who had been released by Motherwell.

Cowgill, 20, is a product of the Tykes youth set-up and made his two senior appearances for them in League One two seasons ago. This season he has played three times in the National League on loan at Braintree.

Kennedy began his career with Manchester City and won England honours up to Under-19 level.

The 23-year-old moved on Leicester, then made his first senior appearances last season after signing a two-year deal with Scottish Premiership club Motherwell. He is yet to play this season.

Earlier this month Fylde saw loan defenders Laurence Maguire and Dan Jones return to Chesterfield and Grimsby respectively.

Fylde aim to get back to winning ways at Nuneaton on Saturday after home draws with promotion rivals Kidderminster and Stockport over the past week.

Despite those dropped points, Fylde lead National North by nine points with seven matches to play.
