This defeat, allied to Silsden’s 2-1 win over 1874 Northwich, leaves Blackpool second-bottom and still four points from safety.

They have at least two games in hand on all the other clubs in the relegation battle but a huge fixture backlog is taking its toll on Stuart Parker’s side, who have taken just one point from four games.

They are in the middle of a three-week run of Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday fixtures and last night’s match was the first of six in 12 days as FA rules will not allow the season to extend beyond Saturday week.

Blackpool are at home to Barnoldswick tomorrow.
