Fylde Flyers Ice Hockey Club are determined not to lose momentum as they build towards their second season in the English National League.
The Cleveleys-based club have been running a four v four non-contact tournament to help players keep their fitness up.
Teams have travelled from all over the region to compete in weekly matches at the Sub Zero Ice Arena, enabling Flyers manager Mick Caunce to cast an eye over potential recruits.
The final was won by the Dekes (not Dukes!) of Hazard team, who defeated Blackburn-based Falcons 7-1. Flyers’ top scorer Bobby Caunce played his part in a dramatic finale which saw the winners score six times in the final eight minutes.
There was a separate competition for eight-to-15-year-olds, won by the Mean Machine team and enabling the Flyers to monitor young talent.
The Flyers wish to thank Heatplan Domestic & Commercial Gas Specialists and BC Plumbing for sponsoring the trophies.
They now turn their attention to arranging warm-up games ahead of the First Division season, due to start in late August.
Relegated Solihull Barons and Nottingham Lions will provide new opposition for the Flyers next term.
The club are seeking sponsors and programme advertisers. Contact Mick Caunce on 07595 393277.
