Fylde Flyers shared the spoils with Sheffield Senators in their final warm-up match ahead of their second campaign in the National Ice-Hockey League.
The outcome of this highly competitive game was in doubt until the dying moments at the Sub Aque Ice Arena.
The Flyers, fielding five new signings, unveiled their striking new kit and dominated the early stages without scoring.
New signing John Boswell, a former Great Britain roller-hockey international, sustained a nasty facial injury which forced him out of the action after only 11 minutes.
Another new signing, Dan Etherington from Trafford Metros, will have happier memories of the match after scoring two goals and taking the MVP award.
Further goals came from newcomer Danny Jones and defenceman Stewart Marriott.
Player-coach Mark Gillingham said: “It was a definite positive to be able to get a home game in before the start of the league fixtures.
“We didn’t manage to do so last year, with our rink not being ready, but playing Sheffield has given us a chance to see what we need to sharpen up.’
The Flyers’ campaign begins at home to Nottingham Lions on Saturday week, face-off 5pm.
