Fleetwood duo walking tall for charity

IT may be the close season but two Fleetwood Town men will have their fitness put to the test this weekend.

Reserves manager Steve Edwards and the club's match-day announcer Rod Allsworth will be trekking across Morecambe Bay for charity.

They have agreed to take part in the eight-mile event to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The walk, starting at Arnside, will be led by Cedric Robinson MBE, the Queen's Official Guide to the Sands.

Rod said "A mate of mine, who isn't too well, asked me to accompany him on the walk. I felt privileged but unfortunately he won't be able to make it on the day. I was determined to take part and Steve didn't need asking twice.

"We will be wearing our Fleetwood Town shirts. We are asking people to sponsor us for 1 – no more.

"There will be a bucket in the PA room near the Highbury dugouts for the friendly matches and the first few home league games next season."
