Sheffield United player Scougall to stay at Fleetwood for rest of the season

The 23-year-old joined Town on a month’s loan from Sheffield United in March and manager Steven Pressley has confirmed that the 23-year-old will remain at Highbury until the end of the campaign.

And Pressley says Scougall could be an important player as Town’s League One survival fight enters its decisive final five games.

The Town boss said: “Scougall’s loan has been extended until the end of the season and we are really pleased with that because I think he could prove to be an important player between now and the end of the season.

“He’s not played a lot of football (before joining us) and his energy levels over the past three games (against Swindon Town, Peterborough and Southend) have been quite incredible.”

Former Livingston and Scotland U21 player Scougall has impressed playing just behind forwards Bobby Grant and Wes Burns in a 4-3-1-2 formation in recent weeks.

He says that he is enjoying his time at Fleetwood and that his main aim is to help the club maintain League One status.

Scougall said: “I’m really enjoying it here. The gaffer and the coaching staff have been brilliant.

“The boys have been brilliant. They have all helped me settle in really well. For me it is all about getting games and hopefully I can help keep this club up.”

Town striker Jamille Matt’s month-long loan at League Two club Plymouth Argyle has also been extended until the end of the campaign.
