Full Time: Aldershot Town 2 Fleetwood Town 0

Fleetwood Town v Burton Albion at Highbury. Keeper David Lucas can't stop the penalty.

Fleetwood Town v Burton Albion at Highbury. Keeper David Lucas can't stop the penalty.

NINE man Fleetwood Town were made to pay for a lack of discipline at struggling Aldershot Town.

Jamie McGuire and Alan Goodall were both sent off in the second half as Fleetwood’s playoff hopes took another serious blow.

The visitors fell behind seven minutes before the break.

Alan Goodall lost his footing ahead of Kieron Cadogan, the winger’s run into the box unchecked - Danny Hylton stabbing home.

The fightback seemed to be on when Ryan Crowther rattled the woodwork.

But Jamie McGuire’s blatant push on Oliver Risser, earning the midfielder a straight red put the visitors back under the cosh.

Fleetwood continued to push for an equaliser but were reduced to just nine men when Alan Goodall hauled down Hylton in the box.

David Lucas saved the penalty but could do nothing seven minutes from time when Hylton broke into the Fleetwood box - a fine finish to earn Aldershot a vital three points.
