Fleetwood RUFC junior coach Jason Atwell turned to a local landmark following weeks of seeing rugby lost to sodden pitches.
Atwell put his Fleetwood U9 side through their paces on The Mount and said: “We’ve had games and training sessions cancelled due to the weather, so it’s good to come out and let the boys stretch their legs.
“We do have an all-weather pitch at Melbourne Avenue but our session on there is not until midweek.
“ The lads have definitely enjoyed the session at The Mount, particularly the uphill challenges. I think there will be a few tired legs today!”
The coach is hoping for a break in the weather in time for the derby game with Blackpool later this month. “Their pitches are usually in good condition,” added Atwell.
