Former England captain Charlotte Edwards and Southern Vipers team-mate Fi Morris have been ruled out Friday's Kia Super League match against Lancashire Thunder at Stanley Park due to concussion.

Edwards and Morris collided in the outfield while converging for a catch against Surrey Stars on Sunday and have been sidelined in accordance with the England and Wales Cricket Board’s protocols.

Vipers captain Edwards, said: “Of course I am disappointed that I won’t be able to play today. The Kia Super League is a short competition, so nobody wants to miss a game.

“But we have all seen how seriously head injuries must be taken, so it is good that we have such comprehensive medical advice and support available.”
