DJ's price too high for Seasiders
IAN Holloway is on the verge of admitting defeat in the battle to bring DJ Campbell back to Bloomfield Road.
The striker, who smashed nine goals in 19 starts on loan from Leicester in the second half of last season, is unwilling to accept the wages Pool are offering.
Holloway said: "We have tried to sign DJ Campbell, but Leicester went up last season and that means DJ's wages also went up. His agent has made it totally clear that he isn't going to take a drop from the money he is on."
As Campbell's wages are twice as high as Pool's current top earner, it almost certainly rules out a move.
The Seasiders are also struggling to make headway in their efforts to land their other top target Charlie Adam.
The problem is agreeing a fee and Holloway added: "We are trying with Glasgow Rangers and Charlie Adam. The chairman is trying to sort something out but we are not sure what will happen.
"Charlie is a young player and at the moment we can't agree a fee with Rangers because they do rate him quite highly.
"All I will say is that if we don't get those, there will be others of the same ilk and talent I will try to bring in.
"I want to bring in people to fill the positions Charlie and DJ played."
