AN ARRAY of Test talent from around the world will be in action at Rossall School at the end of the month.

A Lashings World XI will take on a Rossall XI on June 30 in a limited-overs clash.

Some of the greats of international cricket will take to the field.

And the team, which promises to include Australia, West Indies, New Zealand, India, Pakistan and England Test stars, will be drawn from the 2011 Lashings squad just announced.

Former England all-rounder, Phil DeFreitas has been named as Lashings’ captain for 2011, and his squad will include the likes of West Indies’ big hitters Richie Richardson and Gordon Greenidge.

Also from the Windies Test team will be fiery pace bowler, Tino Best, currently with the Yorkshire county side.

Recently retired Aussie pace bowler Jason Gillespie will be joined in the squad by fellow countryman Greg Blewett and also by former New Zealand cricket captain Chris Harris.

The England Test contingent is strong, with Hampshire captain, Dominic Cork; all-rounder, Graeme Hick; bowling stalwart, Andy Caddick; and former Yorkshire pace bowler, Darren Gough (almost as well-known for his winning ways on BBC TV’s Strictly Come Dancing, as he is for his exploits with the cricket ball).

All are possibilities to start at Rossall.

Also among those likely to feature are Pakistani wicketkeeper, Rashid Latif and bowlers, Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Akram.

Former Indian Test opener Wasim Jaffer also joins the squad.

Match tickets priced at £10 are still available for the eagerly awaited 35-overs match, which also offers corporate hospitality packages for companies, including lunch with the Lashings cricket stars from £50 per head.

The organisers anticipate a strong turnout, which will offer a unique opportunity to see such a gathering of stellar cricket talent on the Fylde Coast. Match tickets and corporate hospitality information can be obtained by telephoning: 774201 or by email: p.mccann@rossall.org.uk.
