LANCASHIRE COUNTY Cricket Club today announced the signing of Sri Lankan all-rounder Farveez Maharoof.

The 26 year-old joins the Red Rose county for the entire 2011 campaign, and will be available for all competitions.

With 91 one-day international and 20 Test Match appearances for his country, Maharoof brings a wealth of experience to Old Trafford.

He has taken over 100 wickets for Sri Lanka in the shorter form of the game and last year took a hat-trick in an Asia Cup game against India.

Cricket Director Mike Watkinson said: “Farveez is a very experienced cricketer and is still relatively young. He’s shown a real desire to come and play for us this coming season and we look forward to welcoming him on board.”

Head Coach Peter Moores added: “Farveez has a track record of getting important runs and picking up vital wickets.

“He’s available to us for the full season and will be a competitive addition to our squad.”
