It meets each Saturday morning during school term time at Blackpool Sports Centre in Stanley Park.

Badminton sessions run from 9.30am to 11.30am and are led by head coach Dave Greer, who has a dedicated team of coaches and assistants, some of whom have come through the club’s ranks.

They work with the children to develop their playing ability and enjoyment of the sport.

The club is open to any child between the ages of seven and 18, regardless of playing ability, to and those who want to continue playing pay a small registration charge and weekly session fee.

A typical Saturday morning session involves warm-up play, exercise and stretches, with training routines leading into game play.

The exercises and training routines are designed to allow individual players to participate without feeling intimidated and to develop at their own pace.

More able players are encouraged to assist the coaches in maintaining a fun-filled environment. The last session of each term features an informal club tournament.

Parent and child tournaments are also staged occasionally to encourage wider family involvement in the club and give parents, guardians and older siblings the opportunity to play alongside or against their budding stars

The club also strives to encourage young players to join and support local clubs in the Blackpool and District Badminton Association leagues, and help them to achieve their potential as players and/or coaches.

Junior club players have gone on to become coaches as well as keen and competitive players in local clubs.

Some have become junior county players and one junior is now competing near the top of the English national rankings.

The club has an active policy of developing players into coaches and mentors, and it funds coaching assistants wishing to progress along this route.
