Canavan's blog: You can't blame Tony and Thommo
LET'S get one thing straight. This defeat was nothing to do with Tony Parkes or Steve Thompson.
They sent out a decent looking team which played very well for 45 minutes. They told the same players at half-time to carry on as they had been.
That's where it went pear-shaped.
Coventry's two goals in the opening five minutes of the second half turned the game on its head.
But it wasn't just the fact they scored two. It was the fact that Blackpool allowed them to score the goals courtesy of some horrible defending.
The back four had experience stamped all over it.
Barker, Evatt, Edwards and Harte have played bags of games.

But the defending in those opening few minutes was uncharacteristically bad, as the lads themselves – an honest bunch who pride themselves on good, steady performances – will surely admit.
Just who, if any individual, was at fault, is hard to pinpoint.
That's something to address on the training ground after studying the DVD.
But it was such a shame because other than that mad period, the Seasiders would surely have gone on to claim a much-needed first victory at Coventry since Neville Chamberlain was PM in the 30s.
Still, at least DJ Campbell was a hit, not just scoring but showing what a decent footballer he is – swift, tough and with an eye for a good pass.
Roy O'Donovan too looked a threat and he will surely improve given a few more games.
On the downside, the injury to Ben Burgess is a huge blow. He has been a key man this season and had linked up excellently with Campbell prior to hurting his knee.
The need to sign a striker has just increased greatly.
Four points from the drop zone is looking a bit ominous and with Birmingham, QPR and Crystal Palace coming up, the fixtures don't get any easier.
It was a chance blown at Coventry. Pool need to learn from their mistakes and make sure it doesn't happen again.
