Canavan's blog: Work to be done!
STEVE Canavan gives his thoughts on the latest from Bloomfield Road and looks ahead to this weekend's game.
HERE'S the latest exciting image from the Blackpool FC webcam, detailing the progress on the south stand.
As you can see, it's coming on apace ... though one fears it may not quite be ready for tomorrow's game with Forest, as initially suggested.
Here's a snippet from an interview in August with Fletcher King Howard Associates, the people in charge of building the stand: "We are looking at May (for the opening)."
"We would like to get some people in the seats in the last home match or two but we can't guarantee that. But certainly we will have finished it by May."
Failing a late frantic burst of work, that could be tricky.
But better late than never I suppose and at least when it's done it should look the part.
The 3,500 seats in the new south and south west corner will increase the capacity at Bloomfield Road to more than 13,000.
- DANIEL Hogg – better known by his real name Drummer Hoggy – has played a big part at Blackpool matches this season. Now he's asking for some support from Pool fans.
Hoggy's football team, St Mary's sixth form, has made it through to the Lancashire Cup Final for the first time ever.
The game is on Monday at Bloomfield Road, at 6.30pm, against Clitheroe Grammar School. Admission is 2 adults, 1 juniors.
Hoggy is the one in goal pretending he's Paul Rachubka. It remains to be seen whether he'll have his drum with him.
- POWER of the press.
Last Wednesday's Gazette: "Roy O'Donovan has issued a heartfelt thank you to Tony Parkes for keeping the faith and helping him learn to love football again".
Saturday: O'Donovan axed from the 16 at Charlton.
