Canavan's blog: How Grayson ruined my Christmas
FIRSTLY a belated big thank you to Simon Grayson.
Picture the scene. I've worked my socks off after the Swansea game on December 20, making sure I get well ahead of myself so I can have a nice few days out of the office over Christmas, spending it in the loving bosom of the Canavan family.
Then, two days before Christmas, Grayson goes and quits.
Talk about messing up plans.
The leisurely festive period turned into more hard work than is healthy for a man of my rapidly advancing years, and instead of wasting away my days happily nibbling turkey sandwiches and watching Only Fools and Horses re-runs, I was instead writing about compensation claims and possible new managers.
Grayson, you owe me an apology.
THE latest issue of Blackpool's only fanzine is on sale ahead of tomorrow's game.
Fair play to the folks at avftt, this is the 61st issue of what's always a decent read. I'm told the latest offering contains views on Larry's departure – and tips on how to get over it – a new series of Personal Ads ('Once tall, dark and handsome defender seeks hairdresser urgently') and basically lots of jibes at Leeds.
LEAST surprising story of the week appeared in this week's Yorkshire Evening Post.
"Simon Grayson has revealed he will adopt a horses for courses policy to League One glory ..."
It was his favourite phrase during interviews at Bloomfield Road to the extent that the media lads would hold a sweepstake on how many times he'd say it.
The journos in Yorkshire will soon catch on.
FINALLY, happy birthday to Michelle Smart, who turns 40 this week.
She is celebrating with a party at Blackpool FC tomorrow night. Well, where else would you choose..? Have a good'un Michelle.
