Bright Brett is denied the perfect start
AFC Blackpool 1 Darwen 1
NEW boy Brett Dawson was out of luck as AFC Blackpool had to settle for a point in an entertaining Vodkat NWCL division one game.
The post denied The Thornton Cleveleys FC striker a goal barely ten minutes into his debut, when he met a cross from Craig Blinkhorn.
And with ten minutes to go, his first-time shot from Ben Waddington's cross thudded against the goalkeeper.
Both sides were happy with a point after Blackpool dictated the first half and came under pressure for 25 minutes in the second period.
Waddington went close in Blackpool's early onslaught and it was no surprise when he put the home team in front midway through the half. He latched onto Ben Rothwell's through ball to round the goalkeeper.
Blackpool couldn't get the second and Darwen put them under the cosh.
Goalkeeper Jamie Cook pulled off two good saves and then blocked an effort from a corner only for the rebound to be put away. Manager Stuart Parker blooded his latest Myerscough College acquisition Oliver Clarke late on.
