BLACKPOOL boxer Brian Rose plans to spoil Prince Arron’s night twice over when the pair meet for the British light-middleweight title at Wigan’s Robin Park arena a week tonight.
Rose has designs on capturing Arron’s Lonsdale Belt – and at the same time muscle him aside in the fight for a European title.
Arron has already been handed a shot at the European title against the undefeated Sergey Rabchenko, of Belarus. But a defiant Rose said: “If I beat Arron, then I should be the one to get to box for the European title.”
Arron is the favourite to win in seven days’ time, but Rose says he has never trained harder or longer for a fight, and is determined to upset the odds.
Rose had his last hard day on Friday in the build-up to facing Arron, doing 15 punishing rounds on the body-belt.
He has also been running in the bleak surrounds of Saddleworth Moor.
If Rose wins, he will be the first Blackpool boxer for the best part of half a century, since heavyweight Brian London, to wear the famous Lonsdale Belt around his waist.
