BLACKPOOL Kingscore Boxing Club junior Alex McCloy scored a unanimous victory over Jimmy Egan ABC’s Callum Holland in his fourth bout in a month.
McCloy won, using an aggressive style.
It was his 16th win in a 25-fight career - he lost the other nine. Of these reverses, three were against junior champions – and later got his revenge against Skerton’s Hughie Fury.
Alex’s endeavours earned praise from coach Anthony Moran, who said: “His jab is excellent and he possesses excellent body punching skills.
“I have no doubt he has the ability himself to become a national ABA champion himself.
“He’s a credit to Blackpool Kingscote ABC and always shows respect to fellow boxers and officials alike, and is well liked on the amateur circuit.
“His ambition is to turn professional in the next three years and follow in the footsteps of his friend ex-Kingscote boxer Matty Askin (above), who comes and supports Alex’s bouts regularly.”
