Lytham fighter Scott Cardle exploded on the national boxing scene with a sensational 46-second stppage win over Kirk Goodings at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester.
In the process Cardle won the English lightweight title, which Goodings had held.
Cardle, who now boasts 16 straight wins as a professional, had Goodings down for a count of eight after a concussive shot that found its target with unerring accuracy.
Cardle piled in for the kill and with Goodings under severe, relentless pressure, Fleetwood referee Steve Gray wisely intervened to prevent the Sunderland boxer suffering serious hurt.
It was the quickest and best display of Cardle’s pro career in what was an official eliminator for the British title.
