Blackpool star out of international friendly

BLACKPOOL midfielder David Vaughan is out of Wales' friendly in Denmark tomorrow.

But it could be a blessing in disguise as he busts a gut to make sure he is fit for the Seasiders' weekend trip to Wolves.

Vaughan missed the defeat to Preston, having been unable to train last week because of a calf injury.

Ironically his absence allowed Adam Hammill to come in against North End – the on-loan Liverpool winger scored and was one of the few Blackpool players to emerge with any credit from the derby.

But Vaughan remains an important figure and would probably come back in at Molineux if he was fit, though not necessarily on the left wing.

But having pulled out of the international in Copenhagen, Vaughan isn't guaranteed to be fit for Saturday.

However, Pool boss Simon Grayson is cautiously optimistic.

He said: "David has a little calf strain and there was no way he was going to be fit for the Preston game but he is a possibility for Wolves."

Hamstring victim Danny Coid is also hoping to be available for the weekend.

He too missed the derby with a hamstring strain but is hoping to be back in full training on Thursday.

The Wolves match will be Mo Camara's last on loan before he returns to Derby.

That will leave Pool seriously short of cover in the left-back area, which makes it vital that Coid regains fitness.
