Blackpool sign World Cup "King"

BLACKPOOL FC have signed Ghana World Cup goalkeeper Richard Kingson, formerly with Wigan and Birmingham and named him in their 24-man squad for the 2010-11 season.

Manager Ian Holloway moved to sign the former Wigan and Birmingham stopper because of a long term injury to Paul Rachubka.

Kingson is the second player from the 2010 World Cup to link up with the Seaasiders in the last 24 hours, Blackpool having signed Australian full-back David Carney from Dutch champions FC Twente.

Kingson has played in the Premier League before for Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City Kingson helped Ghana to get to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in South Africa, where they eventually lost to Uruguay in a controversial match settled by a penalty shoot-out.
